I need my wisdom teeth removed.

My bottom left tooth has been in a lot of pain since a few days ago
Since it's still under the skin. I'll need oral surgery and I find that terrifying
I never liked the thought of being put under or having surgery
Can anyone give me any comforting advice, possibly?
I may have to get them out fairly soon here..

I only had two, both on the bottom. I had both removed before I got braces, and I was awake for it. They gave me lots of numbing stuff though, and I was also under the effects of some gas that made me not care as much what was happening. The pain isn't in the surgery itself, but I'd recommend asking about the gas if you're being kept awake too, even if it costs a bit extra, so that you won't freak yourself out much thinking about it during. There will be a lot of pressure, but try not to confuse it for pain. It's scary, but it doesn't hurt. The blood taste was enough to make me sick to my stomach, but that was the worst part of the actual surgery itself for me.
It's the healing process that'll get ya. Now, you'll be on some pretty good painkillers, but you can't forget to take your antibiotic and do your salt water rinses, like my brother did. You'll have stitches in your mouth, so it'll feel a bit weird to open and close your mouth at all, at least, if you're me, but it's not quite that bad. They dissolve away when your mouth heals, so don't worry about them. Just be very careful when you brush your teeth. Your diet will probably consist of mostly jello, pudding and ice cream for about a week or so, so make sure you're stocked up on those.
Anyway, as far as surgeries go, I thought it was probably a good one to have as my first. The healing time wasn't terribly long, there were lots of people who'd gone through the same thing, and I was kept awake, so the idea of being kept awake isn't quite as scary anymore. Yeah, my phobia for surgery isn't gone or anything (in fact it was my fear of needles that had me choosing that they keep me awake as opposed to sedating me with an IV), but... odds are that people are going to need surgery in their lives. It's good to get a smaller one like this so that you know what to expect, you know? It's the unknown that's the most frightening of all. At least now I can say that I've been through it once, and I survived it.
Good luck, Dei-chan~!
