Kelp Shark

They can range from 25-45' feet long.

They spend their days as a pup on the sandy bottom of shallow waters, and bask in the warm sunlight. Kelp attaches to their bodies and eventually becomes part of it, allowing the shark to undergo photosynthesis when no food can be found or caught, however large amounts of kelp must grow on its body inorder for it to go without eating for most of its life.

A spike protrudes from the underside of its clawed fin, using it to slash at prey or other large carnivorous creatures. The spike is dosed in a potent poison, capable of killing a human within a few minutes with just the tiniest scratch.

They do not normally show themselves at the surface of the water, unless desperate for food, or if close to death.

Sailors tell tales of Kelp Sharks using the spikes along its back to puncture bottoms of ships and boats, and sinking them, eating all who are on board.
